Aerospace to Air condenser.

Aerospace to Aileron roll

a container under pressure with an iriert gas, or other activating agent, for dispensing as a spray.
Aerospace. The atmosphere and the space beyond considered as a whole.
Aerosphere. The region above the
earth's surface.
Aerostat. (Aero.) A term applied to
any "lighter than air" craft, as air
ship or balloon. .
Aerostatics. (Aero.) The science which
treats of the equilibrium of gaseous
fluids and bodies immersed in them.
Aerostation. (Aero.) The art of operating aerostats.
African mahogany. (Wood) Khaya senegalensis. A remote member of the mahogany family found principally in Africa. The very large tree produces exceptionally fine figured timber of unusual lengths and widths. Used for fine furniture.
Afterdamp. (Chern.) Carbon dioxide left in a mine after the explosion of mine gases.
Afterglow. The luminosity presisting in a rarefied gas after the passage through it of an electrodeless discharge.
Afterimage. (Color) That impression which remains of a visual object after the direct stimulation has been withdrawn from the retina.
Agate. (Min.) A variegated quartz in which colours are usually in bands; a gem. (Print.) A type size about 5and 1\2 points.
Ageing. Change.in the properties of a substance with the passage of time.
Aggregate. A mass formed by the union of similar particles.
Aging of incandescent lamp. (Elec.) A gradual lessening of the brightness of an incandescent lamp, due to oxidation of the filament and the coating on the inside of the bulb.
Aging of magnet. (Elec.) Subjecting a magnet to the process of increasing its magnetic permanency.
Agitator. (Mech.) A mechanical stirring device, commonly used in mixing ingredients in large vats or tanks.
Agonic lines. (Aero.) Lines on a map or chart, connecting points on the earth's surface where magnetic variation is zero.
Agricultural bolt. (Shopwk.)A bolt,
the body of which has a series of helical bands and grooves which are formed by a rolling process; used in farm machines and appliances.
Agriculture. The art and science relating to the production and raising of plants and animals.
Aileron. (Aero.) An auxiliary surface usually hinged or pivoted to the trailing edge of a wing, the primary function of which is to impress a rolling moment on the airplane.
Aileron angle. (Aero.) The angular displacement of an aileron from its neutral position. It is positive when the trailing edge of the aileron is below the neutral position.
Aileron roll. (Aero.) A roll in which the motion is largely maintained by forces arising from ~e displace

ment of the aileron.
Air. The atmosphere. (Chern.) The mixture of gases that forms the apparent blue envelope of the earth, although technically the term "air" is usually applied to a limited portion of the atmosphere.
Airacetylene welding. A gas-welding process wherein the welding heat is obtained from the combustion of air and acetylene.
Air-blast transfQrmer. (Elec.) A transformer which is prevented from overheating by the forced cilculation of air around its windings.
Air bleed. (Auto. M ech.) A small manually adjusted air valve by which the amount of air in fuel mixture can be varied.
Air bound. When action of any parts
or part is prevented by an air pocket.
Air brake. (Auto. Mech.) The conventional style of mechanically applied brake set by air pressure instead of foot pressure. The pressure of the hand or foot operates an air valve. Permitting a flow of air, from cylinders in which it has been stored under pressure, to set the brakes.
Air-brush lettering. (Art) Lettering finished or shaded with an air brush, which is an. implement for spraying inks or paints by compressed air.
Air cell. (Elec.) A primary cell of the depolarizer type in which oxygen is extracted from the air by a special carbon' electrode which is used as a depolarizeI'.
Air chamber. (Ellgill.) A vessel installed on pistoll pumps to minimize the pulsating discharge of the liquid limped. The chamber

contains air under pressure and is fitted with an opening on its underside into which some of the liquid from the pump is forced upon the delivery stroke of the piston. The air acts as a cushion to lessen the fluctuation of the liquid flow between the suction and delivery strokes of the piston.
Air clamp. (Mach.) Any type of clamping device operated by pneunlatic pressure.
Air cleaner. (Auto. Mech.) A device designed to separate dirt and other foreign substances from the atmosphere before it enters the combustion space.
Air compr«:ssor. (Auto.) A machine for supplying air under pressure for inflating tires and for many industrial uses. (Mach.) A machine in which air is compressed for motive power.
Air condenser. (Elec.) A form of condenser in which air spaces between the disks serve to insulate the charges from one another.
