tracks across a stream or ravine.
Timbre. The quality of a sound-the sort of soudn.
Time base. Circuits use din oscilloscope to produce steady, repetitive horizontal sweep of electron beam. Resulting 'base' line represents time element in visual signal displays.
Time-constant. Product of capacitance and tesistance in a circuit of resistors and capacitors (RIC circuit); expressed in microseconds (J.LS) to specify response curve shapes such RIC circuits achieve.
Time delay compensated. Applied to loud-speaker in which drive units are arranged in stepped fashion to compensate for delays aristing from differing cone depths.
Time delay spectrometry. A new technique for acoustic measurement utilising a real time spectrum analyser.
Time lapse. A type of photography in which an interval of time is allowed to pass between each frame. When the finished film is viewed movement appears to be speeded up.
Time lap~e recording. On camcorders, the ability to record just a few frames of video for every

Time of day. A definite time as shown by a time piece.
Timer. (Auto.) A device used on automobiles to break primary ignition circuit at the proper time for the spark to occur in cylinders. (Tel.) A device for controlling machinery. appliance. or the like. in a spacified way at a predetermined time.
Time signal. A signal electrically or by radio to indicate a precise moment of time as a means of checking or regulating time pieces.
Time switch. (Elec.) A clock-con

Timing. (Auto. Mech.) (I) The adjustment of valves and crankshaft of an engine in their relative position to produce the greatest effective output in h.p. (2) The point at which ignition breaker is set in relation to top dead-center position of the piston to secure the greatest effective expansive force upon head of piston.
Timing gear. (Auto.) The gears that drive the camshaft so that the valves operate in correct time with the pistons. Since the camshaft has to turn once for every two
Timing marks to Title page revolutions of the crankshaft, these gears must be in the ratio of 2 to I.
Timing marks. (Auto.) Ignition: Marks on engine flywheel or dynamic balancer that align with a pointer at the instant No. I cylin
. der is ready to fire. Valve: Marks on timing gears or sprockets to enable mechanics to quickly and accurately time valves to piston position.
Tin. (Metal.) A silvery-white metal with specific gravity 7.3. It is of very great value in the industries, chiefly in the making of alloys.
Tinctrue. (Wood Fin.) The finer and more soluble parts of a. substance separated by a solvent.
Tinder. Any dry inflammable material such as might be used for kindling a fire.
Tinning. (Metal.) (I) The process of coating iron plates with tin, in tinplate manufacture. (2) Thecoating of a soldering iron solder previous to its use.
Tin-plate. (Metal.) A thin sheet of steel coated with tin.
Tinsmith. One who makes articles from tin plates.
Tin snips. (Sheet-Met. Wk.) The ordinary hand shears used by sheet metal workers.
Tint block. (Print.) A flat plate or electrotype used for printil1g a solid colour. UsuaIly the colour.
Tints. (Pailll.) Light colourings, especiaIly colours containing some white.
Tip mass. Effecitve inertia at tip of a stylus as seen by record groove at HE Given in milligrams (mgm).
Tip radius. (Aero.) (Or propeller radius.) The distance of the outer most point of a propeller balde from the axis of rotation.
Tire bolt. A bolt having a flat unslotted head; used. for attaching the metal tire to the felloe of a wheel.
Tire tool. (Auto.) A flat bar of iron or steel commonly spoken of as tire iron used for applying and removing tires. Any tool used for the same purpose can be considered a tire tool.T
