It is the document group which records the details of each element of WBS. It is drawn up concerning all WBS elements which form WBS. With the summary element of superior level and the work packageof lowestlayer level, as for description contents item there are times when it differs.
Hierarchical level of that WBS element, the preceding WBS element and the succeeding WBS element, schedule date, the result thing resource which is necessary for execution, the job person in charge and the execution patsy, the management patsy and the approval person, completion condition or result ones (specification) which it should complete, risk and the cost etc. which are expected are described to the WBS dictionary. If the WBS element is the work package, contents of the activity which is executed there are defined, concrete procedure and constraint etc. are stated according to need.
WBS in order to be able to grasp the whole project at the glance, is the technique which makes the diagram, but acquiring brief name is recommended by each WBS element for element disassembly, the clear contents and meaning cannot be defined securely. Defining all WBS elements (namely scope of whole project) inclusively and explicitly, those where it is drawn up in order to remove misunderstanding and the ambiguity are the WBS dictionary then.
The WBS dictionary is corrected being something which is linked with WBS, when modification occurs in contents of the WBS element, including the higher rank or the subordinate element. In addition, & reuse contents can referring to eventhe occasion where SOW and the job directory etc. are drawn up by servicing & uses the WBS dictionary.
When WBS and the WBS dictionary are made in the paper base, both relation are attached with WBS number, but with the project management software like Microsoft Project, linking each WBS element in the WBS figure and each item of the WBS dictionary directly, to manage and it is possible to utilize.
