CTS
Acronym Switched Telephone Network. This is the conventional telephone network. The term switched is that communications are made possible through Switches automatic devices providing a temporary connection between two people.
RGB
Denotes Red Green Blue or RGB (Red Green Blue in English). Refers to a video signal that uses three Primary Color to convey and reconstruct the image. It is usually found on a SCART or on RCA or BNC for connection with a monitor or projector. Requires synchronization signal, bringing to four the number of connections required. Excellent quality rendering and detail colors.
S-DMB
The S -DMB, Standard dissemination multimedia principles derived from DMB technology. However, its uniqueness lies in a network Hybrid : To avoid problems inherent in masking satellite transmissions, a network of Repeaters land (estimated at 15 000 in South Korea) is coupled to a geostationary satellite.
The Korean S-DMB
Based on CDMA (Multiple Access Code Division - Spread spectrum), The Korean S-DMB uses the band Ku (12,214-12,239 GHz) in upstream and S-band (2,630-2,655 GHz) downlink to the mobile. The S-DMB implements the principle of a network isofréquence (Single Frequency Network) which allows more efficient use of frequency spectrum: satellite and terrestrial transmitters broadcast on the same band. The problems of multiple echoes are resolved through CDMA (or modulations type OFDM). Naturally, the signals must be synchronized by a frequency Reference GPS. The flow are considered high (7 Mbps) for speeds (up to 150 km / h).
South Korea saw its deploy S-DMB service in April 2005 by TU Media (SK Telecom) to launch the service in December. Unlike T-DMB the service is paying for a monthly fee estimated at EUR 10 for 14 video channels and 25 radio stations. In late 2005 the terminal costs around 500 euros and the price does not seem to go down quickly ...
The European S-DMB
In parallel with the Korean S-DMB, various experiments were conducted in Europe to take account of local circumstances. The radical difference based on the European desire to spread the S-DMB content on a layer 3GTherefore compatible with the broadcasting terminals UMTS current. It would also require terrestrial repeaters to ensure sufficient flows including inside buildings.
At the resource spectrum, it is question of using IMT-2000/UMTS bands (1980 to 2010 MHz and 2170 to 2200 MHz). These bands are adjacent to bands of UMTS Terrestrial, easily integrated into the frequency plan of a UMTS terminal.
This system addresses the need for a hybrid system to combine the strength of a point to point network for interactivity that of broadcasting for the massive distribution of multimedia content.
Using this unique European 3G network dynamic and strong growth in the number of subscribers, deployment costs would be even smaller, and those terminals
Various experiments have been held Europe:
MAESTRO: tests conducted from January 2004 and now completed (industrial consortium led by Alcatel Alenia Space);
MODIS: Launched in 2002, which led to the construction of a mobile terminal S-DMB;
And also: SATIN, Rely ...
S-Video
Standard dissemination video using a single cable to carry the one hand the chrominance (the color) On the other luminance (the Contrast) From the image. The connector thus presents several points of contact rather fragile, but provides an image of good quality.
