Technical Terms

Dispatcher
A device for allocating the son of the component copper subscriber lines between the cables connected to switch subscribers whose function is to group several rows on a single cable.

Transponder
Equipment includes one or more amplifiers and signal regenerators.

Repudiation
The fact that an entity involved in a communication to deny having participated in all or part exchange.


ReRam
The ReRAM or RRAM (Resistive Random Access Memory) Is a Memory nonvolatile studied by several companies (including Fujitsu, Sharp and Samsung). At the level of a memory cell containing a 0 or 1, it has a structure that can exist in two forms, presenting resistors different. The transition from one to another is effected by applying a certain voltage across this resistor (writing). The resistance measurement shows the memory status (reading).

Several materials were tested, including metal oxides (nickel, titanium ...) and the perovskite (ferroelectric ceramics). Whatever the material, the principle is similar. When writing, when the voltage is high enough, it forms in the substrate a structure shaped filament of low electrical resistance. A stronger tension reaches breaking the filament and the electrical resistance increases (by a factor of about one hundred).

The ReRam is presented as a rival and possible successor of Flash Memory, Having compared it to the advantage of a greater possibility of miniaturization and lower consumption.
