Packet
Process ofrouting in which messages are broken into packets, each packet contains the addresses necessary for its Routing; In nodes network, these packets are received in a queue and retransmitted after analysis addresses on the appropriate transmission path, upon arrival, it restores the messages from packets received.

Since a packet occupies a channel during its transmission, the path is then available for transmission of other packets belonging either to the same message or other messages.

The key point of differentiation between switching Package and circuit switching is the schema management / resource reservation unit level intermediate routing.

The circuit switching requires the reservation of communication resources for the duration of the conversation and complete a journey between the two machines involved INTHE dialogue. In contrast, in the case of the packet, the reservation of resources does a given package that the line linking two units of routing the packet in question is currently being TransitAnd only during transit of the package between the two units of flow considered. An obvious advantage of packet switching over circuit switching is a much more rational use of communication resources: resources are reserved only during actual use.
