Overview Logistics
The logistics deals with the processes
• distribution
• Procurement
• production
• Stockpiling
To avoid multiple choice to be the planning, control and coordination of the entire logistics chain across business lines. In SAP R / 3, the sub-distribution (SD), Production Planning and Control (PP), Materials Management (MM), quality management (QM) and maintenance (PM), represented by application components.
Materials
The SAP R / 3 Materials Management covers the basic functions of planning, purchasing, auditing and inventory management, and also the Warehouse and control. Based on a production program material needs to be type, amount and date determined. It thus determines the gross requirements. Through comparison with the available inventory is then the net requirements calculated, which either through own production or through purchases must be covered. Microeconomic view is the role of Materials Management to supply a company with the needed goods and services to ensure, that the procurement and provision of Goods in the required quantity and quality at the right time right place. These costs aspect must never lose sight of will. Basically, the trick is, with a high delivery to ensure minimum costs (eg capital tied up in warehouses and purchase costs). This includes criteria such as compliance with the manufacturing processes and the capacity utilization of the company.
Interfaces
Following components of R / 3 interfaces have to Materials:
• Controlling (CO) - e.g. Assignments on material issues
• Financial Accounting (FI) - e.g. Transmission of data from the audit
• Production Planning (PP) - e.g. Demand requirements of production
to purchasing
• Distribution (SD) - e.g. Availability check in sales order
Master data in SAP R / 3 MM
Thus the processes and functions of the materials performed may be, one needs information, which, in the form of master records be deposited in the system. Creating and changing master records happens in the system only once. Then these sets are common in all other application components (such as sales, manufacturing) are available. Thus data redundancy (the recurrence is the same Data), prevented. In addition to material-related data information can also contain information with respect to organizational units (e.g., plant, storage location, or purchasing organization).
Master data in SAP R / 3 MM are e.g.
• Material master data containing information about raw materials, merchandise
etc. All data are cross-department-(SD, MM led, PP);
• Vendor Master Data with purchasing and accounting data and all
other data to a supplier or vendor;
• Purchasing info records with information about a supplier and a
Material that is purchased from this supplier. They represent the relationship
between material supplier and fro;
• Conditions with information on pricing.
