At one of the languages which define the structure of the data, it is usedin orderto stipulatethe communication protoco between the computer mainly. ASN.1 itselfhitsto "the poult type" of protocol.

Besides the fact thatthe basicdata type which programming language uses is defined in ASN.1, it is possible to define hierarchical data structure, with basic data type to understand to define easily it is possible also the complicated data which it cannot express.

Furthermore, with ASN.1 it has not mentioned the method of handling the concrete data, but the case where the binary data which conforms to ASN.1 is transferredthe standard such as BER/DER which stipulates encoding rule is prepared separately.

There is SNMP, S/MIME,SSL and Kerberos etc.asan exampleof the protocol whichis definedmaking useofASN.1. As for the standard book which stipulates ASN.1 ISO 8824.
