Learning Management System
A learning management system (LMS) is the application platform (or set of programs) that enables the delivery of courses on e-learning. The learning management system oversees the distribution of online courses, registration of students, tracking online activities. The LMS often work in partnership with LCMS (learning content management system) to manage the content, while LMS is user management and analysis of statistics.
Most LMS are designed in such a way as to facilitate, any place and at any time, access and content management.
Typically an LMS allows for student registration, delivery, attendance at courses e-learning and knowledge examinations.
In a more complete learning management system you can also find tools such as management skills, analysis skills, succession planning, certifications, classes and virtual resource allocation (venues, rooms, manuals, instructors, etc.).. Most systems allow for the beginning student, facilitating self-enrollment and access to courses.
Learning content management system
The learning content management system (LCMS) is a software module in this platform of e-learning that combines all the functionality needed to manage content for e-learning, such as:
Creating, managing and storing content teaching;
Modularization and composition of the basic units of instruction called learning objects (LO);
Tracking and storing the interactions of students with learning objects.
An LCMS manages the import and publication of learning objects, "packages" independent to satisfy one or more learning objectives.
