Product Date Management
PDM or Product Date Management is a software tool that provides engineers and other corporate user’s simultaneous management of product data and development process. The PDM system controls the database and the necessary information concerning the design, manufacture or construction and subsequently supports and maintains the products in sectors such as process industries, construction projects or infrastructure equipment. Thus, from information system company to integrate data from various sources and operating environments (engineering, manufacturing, marketing, sales, etc.) and maintains the integrity and the coexistence of the information.
Some important features of PDM (product date management) software are:
- Improved data quality and uniqueness of information: a common information and up to date with differentiated access based on user profile.
- Ease of communication within and outside the enterprise: speed and accuracy in processes of co-design and development of the collection in collaboration with partners.
- Management Concept, storyboarding, creating image galleries and using templates management of product specifications.
- Workflow management and performance: a single streamlined process and always under control for the monitoring and rapid resolution of any critical.
Product date management is used as a solution to work with electronic documents, digital files or records in a database (from libraries of components and nomenclatures geometric models of a CAD system or programs for CNC machines). In this way, allows anyone to track and manage all relevant information required during the life cycle of a product. It is also considered an essential component for the implementation and support of simultaneous engineering. Among the minimum benefits of a PDM system include electronic security repository, various functions for the user (from data entry and document management planning and project management) and tools for system management (communication and notification, Data conversion and viewing of documents, among others). |
